The X-1R Pro Cup Series (Formerly Hooter's Pro Cup) will be in action tonight at Montgomery Motor Speedway.
Tonight will mark the return of the X-1R Pro Cup Series (Formerly Hooter's Pro Cup) to Montgomery Motor Speedway. It marks the fifth time the series has visited the half-mile.
Last night, thirteen teams took part in an optional practice session, with some fast times being clocked on the stopwatch.
The existing Pro Cup track record at MMS is 20.333 seconds set by Bill Plemons, Jr. back in September of 2000. That record could very well be in danger tonight as many cars were clocked in the mid 20-second range last night. This is the first time the series has visited the track since it was repaved just a few years ago.
Plemons is entered in today's event, and could be one of the guys gunning for his own track record later this evening.
Also entered is four-time series champion, and NASCAR Camping World Truck Series driver Clay Rogers, as well as defending Pro Cup race winner Caleb Holman. Defending series champion JP Morgan is entered as well. Brady Boswell, who has comped at Montgomery before in the Show Me the Money Series last year is entered. Other entries include Tyler Young, Rusty Skewes, Darryl Eustice, Jacob Wallace, Dylan Presnell, Gus Dean, Eric Gerchak, Dalton Hopkins, Andrew Smith and Jordan Anderson.
The 200 lapper gets kicked off tonight with a special autograph session at 545 with the Pro Cup drivers. Qualifying starts at 7:00 immediately followed by features for the MMS Street Stock and Buzz divisions, then the KOMA Unwind 200 rolls off at 8:30.
Tickets are $15 for adults, $5 for children, and kids 5 and under are FREE.
